Big Bear Lake Golf Courses
Up here in the higher altitudes of Big Bear Mountain you'll find a bit of oomph in your swing. Operated by Big Bear Mountain Ski Resort, this scenic 9-hole golf course offers stellar views of the surrounding valleys and pristine pines, along with joyous play for golfers of all skill levels. (If traveling from Big Bear Frontier, head east on Big Bear Blvd, turn left onto Paine, right onto Lake View Dr., right onto Moonridge, and then right onto Summit Blvd.)
For winter travelers, Bear Mountain Golf Course is closed from December to April, but for the other seven months, golfers can swing through the valley, past rows of towering conifers and onto the greens with high glory.
Pro Shop
Don't have your clubs? Not a problem. There's a fully equipped pro shop with rentals, and an on-site golf pro that can throw a few helpful suggestions your way. Once you get back from hitting the greens, pop back in to buy a souvenir t-shirt or a few golf balls to replace all the ones you lost in the woods.
Snazzy Renovations
In 2005, a series of course improvements added a whole new level of excellence. On the 3rd and 8th holes, brilliantly constructed greens and respective sand traps are now in full effect. The 3rd hole has also been stretched 40 yards due to an elevated tee-box. Additionally, the entranceway is now comprised of decadent stone that adds a spiffy country club feel, even though the course is publicly open.
Driving Range
Grab a bucket of balls and hit the driving range. Visitors have the opportunity to hit a few practice swings before they head out on the course, or even just blast a bucket of balls down the range before lunchtime.
Dining
The Club House Grill, just off the 9th hole, and Bear Trap Restaurant offer tasty sandwiches, burgers and salads for lunch.
