BIG BEAR LAKE CALIFORNIA

THREE DAY ITINERARY - DAY 2

Day Two

Today is a day on the slopes. So pack up your skis or snowboard and get ready for some wintry activity. If you don't own, then you can always rent. If you've never been out on the mountain, don't be frightened you won't be alone, and there are trails for all skill levels. The slopes are generally open from November to mid-April. Helpful tip: Bring a change of clothes, because you're going to get wet.

Snow Summit & Big Bear Mountain Resort
Each year, skiers and snowboarders flock in thousands from Southern California and beyond to Snow Summit and Bear Mountain Resort. In 2001, TransWorld Snowboarding rated Snow Summit number one for snowboard parks and pipes. So if you've never been, then you're in for a real treat, and if you have, then you know the scoop-la. For beginners, Snow Summit offers ski and snowboard lessons. For experts, see if you can nail back-to-back 1080's in the " All-Mountain Freestyle Park."

Big Bear Mountain Resort also offers a bounty of ski trails along with a freestyle haven for snowboarders. Its home to the largest snowmaking setup on the west coast as well. Expert snowboarders will enjoy the "superpipe" - stretching over 550 feet and towering an impressive 17 feet high. Beginners can learn the ropes on the generous bunny slopes. If you get a bit ravenous throughout the day, both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain have lunch options.

Dinnertime
When your fun-filled day on the slopes winds down, head back to the cabin, refresh, and get ready for dinner. A great spot is Sizzler's over on Big Bear Blvd. They offer various entrees including: steak, seafood, barbeque, an all-you-eat salad bar and giant burgers.

After dinner you'll probably want to ease those aching muscles. Head back to the cabin and enjoy a warm soothing bath or soak in the Jacuzzi. Then again, if you're looking to stay out, check out Murray's for a couple frosty libations.
